Microsoft?s first tablet isnt turning out to be the huge success the company was hoping it?d be.
According to new estimates by UBS analyst Brent Thrill, Microsoft only sold 1 million Surface tablets during Q4 2012, which could be a setback for Microsoft?s Windows RT tablet OS, since a lot of other PC manufacturers are also looking at the Surface as a gauge of how the new platform is doing.
By contrast, Microsoft?s Windows Phones seem to be doing great. Atleast the Nokia Lumia phones, which sold 4.4 Million in the last quarter. Personally, I?d say it was over general confusion over Windows RT. If you showed me a Windows 8/RT tablet and asked me to tell you which of the two operating systems it actually runs, I honestly wouldnt know. Which is a problem since legacy Windows apps dont work on Windows RT. *shrug* Maybe once the Surface Pro is available things might change?
