In an interview for Blic, a Serbian newspaper, Dodik questioned Serbia?s approach to the EU accession.
?Serbia has been vulnerable to outside pressure when it comes to EU accession. Serbia has been very uncritical of the EU, even though we?re in a situation where that same EU is taking Kosovo away from Serbia,? Dodik explained.
He said he had talked to PM-Designate Ivica Dacic about the work of the council on the implementation of the agreement on special relations.
?Serbia needs to take better care of Serbs outside Serbia. Republika Srpska has strong economic and political ties with Russia, while Serbia has ties with the EU,? Dodik said.
Although he stressed that he was not in a position to judge, he believed that Serbia should be firmer with the EU.
?A solution is to say ?We are sorry, you recognized Kosovo so why are we partners then?? And that is the solution. If you want to push forward with the approach that Serbia has taken so far, where everything that?s been done has only strengthened Kosovo?s independence, then somebody is closing their eyes and they do not want to see what will happen at the end of the road,? the Republika Srpska, RS, president warned.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008 but Serbia does not recognise the new country and has vowed never to do so.
According to Dodik, there is a potential for Serbia and Republika Srpska to establish permanent, institutional ties, regardless of who heads up those institutions.
"It would be a tragedy if Serbia and RS? relations were based only on personal ties,? Dodik added.
