Animal lovers have previously been able to check their pets into sessions with a psychic at the Hotel Monaco in Oregon, and our latest spotting is also offering a special service for podgy pets. The Tufts Obesity Clinic for Animals in Massachusetts is now putting flabby dogs and cats onto a tailored weight loss program.
Owners signing up for the scheme are given an initial appointment which enables the vet to take a look at the pet?s medical history, learn about its current diet and discuss ways to help the animal lose weight. Following this meeting, owners will need to return to the clinic once a month for a weigh-in to ensure that the pet is reaching its targets. Each animal is placed on a calorie control diet that aims to reduce body fat by one percent a week. When the animal achieves its weight goal, advice for maintaining the physique is offered over the phone or email, as well as during a final appointment a month later.
While a clinic dedicated to pets may seem niche, it is potentially useful to any animal owner. One to replicate in your area?
