Disney: Good Luck Charlie's Same-Sex Parents to 'Reflect Themes ...

Good Luck Charlie Lesbian CharactersBefore it leaves the airwaves, Disney Channel?s Good Luck Charlie will introduce viewers to a family parented by two moms.

RELATED | Good Luck Charlie to Say Goodbye After Season 4

Duncan parents Amy and Bob will meet the women when their young daughter Charlie hosts a playdate for a new classmate, in the B-storyline of an early 2014 episode that centers on Teddy?s bestie Ivy heading off to college.

The comedic wrinkle: One of the yet-to-be-cast moms winds up getting her ear bent by cornball Bob, while the other enjoys the pleasure of Amy?s company.

In a statement to TV Guide Magazine, which first reported on the news, a Disney Channel spokesperson said, ?This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors. Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness.?

Do you commend Disney Channel?s mission of inclusiveness? And this is pretty much Ellen and Portia?s gig to lose, right?

Jennifer Lopez's Dior Ensemble On Hollywood Walk Of Fame Is A Moment (PHOTOS)

Raf Simons' designs for Christian Dior were made for major moments. Thankfully, stars like Jennifer Lopez know when it's time to whip out a dramatic outfit.

The actress chose a look from Dior's pre-fall 2013 collection to receive her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. The peach and white confection featured a cashmere and silk top and Raf's signature hoop skirt. Lopez rounded out the ensemble with H.Stern earrings and black Brian Atwood heels.

Even though the outfit has been worn before, J.Lo's glam updo and subdued makeup made the look her own. (And kudos to Jen for choosing a mascara that didn't run when she teared up during a speech.) See Lopez in Dior below and tell us what you think!

(AP) ? Four workers were hurt, three critically, after a barn frame collapsed Saturday at an $80 million Texas A&M University equestrian complex that's under construction.

The collapse happened on university property about a mile from the main campus, Texas A&M spokesman Lane Stephenson said.

College Station and Bryan fire departments, campus police and Texas A&M emergency medical personnel all responded to the accident, which happened shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday.

The accident involved an approximately 300-foot barn, according to the College Station Fire Department. Twisted metal beams could be seen at the site, where ground was broken last fall.

The injured workers were transported to hospitals. Their names and further details on their conditions were not immediately released. Nobody else was hurt.

For a time, emergency responders had to halt the search for the four because of concerns about another collapse.

"After that time search and rescue efforts were suspended until the remainder of the structure that was still standing could be stabilized," according to a statement from the College Station Fire Department. "After the structure was secured a secondary search of the area was conducted to ensure that all patients had been located."

Texas A&M police officials were trying to determine what caused the collapse. University police identified the contractor as Gamma Construction Company, with offices in Houston and San Antonio.

A Gamma Construction representative did not immediately return a phone call to The Associated Press for comment Saturday.

Gamma Construction, on its website, described the A&M work as one of its 2013 projects.

The website said the equestrian complex "will enhance Texas A&M University's equine program and will consolidate not only academic programs, but clubs and associations to one premier location in order to teach, train, conduct research, exhibit and showcase events."

Conditions at the time of the collapse were cloudy with temperatures in the mid-80s and winds gusting just above 10 mph, the National Weather Service said.

The first phase of the equestrian center was set for completion in 2014. The facility will include locker rooms, offices, a concessions building, a 50-stall barn, plus practice arenas and two covered competition arenas, according to the university.

Militants in north Nigeria force thousands to flee

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) ? Islamic extremists threatening a bloodbath forced thousands of people from villages along Nigeria's northeast, where refugees said Saturday the fighters have regrouped following a monthlong military crackdown.

People who escaped the bush near Nigeria's border with Cameroon fled to the Borno state capital of Maiduguri said militants from the Boko Haram terrorist network also have written letters warning government workers to resign their jobs or face death. Other villagers left for Cameroon.

"They warned government officials and civil servants in Bama to resign or else face death in the next seven days. We are all scared, this could be more deadly, so we ran for our dear lives," said Abba Fannami who fled to Maidguri with six family members.

A police officer said Boko Haram fighters were ransacking homes in neighboring Gwoza district, forcing residents to hide in caves in the rocky hills.

Soldiers and police on bombing raids with jet fighters and helicopter gunships have dislodged the insurgents from camps in a game reserve. But the refugees confirmed reports that the fighters have regrouped in the mountains and rocky hills of Gwoza and Bama districts.

In recent days the extremists ? whose name means "Western education is sacrilege" ? have targeted schools, killing 16 high school students and two teachers in two attacks.

The militants also have attacked primary schools, burning down at least 50 in the past year, according to Borno state commissioner for primary education, Tijjani Abba Ali.

In a separate operation in Kano state, west of Borno, police said they rounded up 400 migrants on Saturday and are deporting those who do not have the necessary documents.

"This is a mop up exercise of illegal immigrants to complement what the Federal Government is doing in the states currently under the emergency rule," Kano state controller Hamisu Maishanu told reporters.

By late Saturday morning, he said screening of those detained had revealed some 150 people from the neighboring country of Niger who did not have the right documents.

Kano state is not in a state of emergency. The emergency covers the northeastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, an area encompassing 155,000 square kilometers (60,000 square miles).

The emergency and a military and police crackdown since May 14 has failed to crush the extremists blamed for the killings of more than 1,600 people since 2010. Boko Haram and splinter groups want to create an Islamic state in Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation and the continent's biggest oil producer.

Two killed after plane crashes at Ohio air show

CINCINNATI (AP) ? A plane carrying a wing walker crashed at an air show and exploded into flames Saturday, killing the pilot and stunt walker, authorities said.

The crash of the 450 HP Stearman happened at around 12:45 p.m. at the Vectren Air Show near Dayton in front of thousands of horrified spectators. No one else was hurt.

A video posted on WHIO-TV shows the plane turn upside-down as the performer sits on top of the wing. The plane then tilts and crashes to the ground, erupting into flames as spectators screamed.

Ian Hoyt, an aviation photographer and licensed pilot from Findlay, was at the show with his girlfriend. He told The Associated Press he was taking photos as the plane passed by and had just raised his camera to take another shot.

"Then I realized they were too low and too slow. And before I knew it, they hit the ground," he said.

He couldn't tell exactly what happened, but it appeared that the plane stalled and didn't have enough air speed, he said. He credited the pilot for steering clear of spectators and potentially saving lives.

"Had he drifted more, I don't know what would have happened," Hoyt said. He said he had been excited to see the show because he'd never seen the scheduled performer ? wing walker Jane Wicker ? in action.

On the video, the announcer narrates as the plane glides through the sky and rolls over while the stuntwoman perches on a wing.

"Now she's still on that far side. Keep an eye on Jane. Keep an eye on Charlie. Watch this! Jane Wicker, sitting on top of the world," the announcer said, right before the plane makes a quick turn and nosedive.

Federal records show that biplane was registered to Wicker, who lived in Loudon, Va. A man who answered the phone at a number listed for Wicker on her website said he had no comment and hung up.

One of the pilots listed on Wicker's website was named Charlie Schwenker. A post on Jane Wicker Airshows' Facebook page announced the deaths of Wicker and Schwenker and asked for prayers for their families.

A message left at a phone listing for Charles Schwenker in Oakton, Va., wasn't immediately returned.

Dayton International Airport spokeswoman Linda Hughes and Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Anne Ralston confirmed that a pilot and stunt walker had died but declined to give their names. The air show also declined to release their identities.

The show was canceled for the rest of the day, but organizers said events would resume Sunday and follow the previous schedule and normal operations. The National Transportation Safety Board said it is investigating the crash.

Another spectator, Shawn Warwick of New Knoxville, told the Dayton Daily News that he was watching the flight through binoculars.

"I noticed it was upside-down really close to the ground. She was sitting on the bottom of the plane," he said. "I saw it just go right into the ground and explode."

Thanh Tran, of Fairfield, said he could see a look of concern on the wing walker's face just before the plane went down.

"She looked very scared," he said. "Then the airplane crashed on the ground. After that, it was terrible, man ... very terrible."

Wicker's website says she responded to a classified ad from the Flying Circus Airshow in Bealeton, Va., in 1990, for a wing-walking position, thinking it would be fun. She was a contract employee who worked as a Federal Aviation Administration budget analyst, the FAA said.

She told WDTN-TV in an interview this week that her signature move was hanging underneath the plane's wing by her feet and sitting on the bottom of the airplane while it's upside-down.

"I'm never nervous or scared because I know if I do everything as I usually do, everything's going to be just fine," she told the station.

Wicker wrote on her website that she had never had any close calls.

"What you see us do out there is after an enormous amount of practice and fine tuning, not to mention the airplane goes through microscopic care. It is a managed risk and that is what keeps us alive," she wrote.

In 2011, wing walker Todd Green fell 200 feet to his death at an air show in Michigan while performing a stunt in which he grabbed the skid of a helicopter.

In 2007, veteran stunt pilot Jim LeRoy was killed at the Dayton show when his biplane slammed into the runway while performing loop-to-loops and caught fire.

Organizers were presenting a trimmed-down show and expected smaller crowds at Dayton after the Air Force Thunderbirds and other military participants pulled out this year because of federal budget cuts.

The air show, one of the country's oldest, usually draws around 70,000 people and has a $3.2 million impact on the local economy. Without military aircraft and support, the show expected attendance to be off 30 percent or more.

Feel Like A Spider In This New Steel Wire Web

My Modern Met:

His largest and most ambitious work to date, In Orbit by Argentinian artist Tomas Saraceno is the closest one may ever come to feeling like a spider. Working with a team of architects, engineers and biologists over a three year period, Saraceno is finally ready to debut this monumental mesh construction that suspends over 25 meters above the piazza of the K21 Standehaus museum in Dusseldorf, Germany. On June 22, visitors will be able to climb on the gigantic steel wire construction that spans three levels.

The mesh net alone weighs three tons and there are half a dozen "spheres" or inflated PVC balloons positioned within it. No joke, for this installation, the artist studied the methods of various spiders to see how they constructed their intricate webs. Just like them, visitors coordinate their activities with one another, perceiving space through the medium of vibration.

Syrian rebels get first new heavy weapons after Obama announces U.S. to send military support

The first new heavy weapons have arrived on Syria?s front lines following President Barack Obama?s decision to put Western military might behind the official opposition, rebels have told The Daily Telegraph.

Rebel sources said Russian-made ?Konkurs? anti-tank missiles had been supplied by America?s key Gulf ally, Saudi Arabia. They have already been used to destructive effect and may have held up a promised regime assault on Aleppo.

A handful of the missiles were already in use and in high demand after opposition forces looted them from captured regime bases.

More have now arrived, confirming reports that the White House has lifted an unofficial embargo on its Gulf allies sending heavy weapons to the rebels.

Last week, the White House said it would send military support to Syria?s opposition after concluding that President Bashar al-Assad?s regime had used chemical agents against them.

Unlike rocket-propelled grenades, the Konkurs ? Contest in English ? can penetrate the regime?s most advanced tanks, Russian-made T72s.

?We now have supplies from Saudi Arabia,? a rebel source said. ?We have been told more weapons are on their way, even higher-end missiles.?

At the G8 this week Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, condemned the West?s attempts to send arms to the opposition, even though he did not rule out fulfilling existing arms contracts with the regime.

On Syria?s front lines, rebels are already using Russian missiles to destroy the regime?s Russian tanks.

Thanks to Russian backing over the last half century, Syria?s army was the best equipped in the region, and its captured bases have handed a limited number of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles to the opposition.

But the number of Konkurs missiles seen in videos escalated at the beginning of this month, tangible evidence of the new Saudi supply line.

In the hills above the Syrian village of Kafra Hamra, north of Aleppo, The Daily Telegraph found rebels talking almost lovingly of the Konkurs as they kept watch on the regime?s tanks 800 yards away.

?We have one or two left but my unit has run out already,? said Abdullah Da?ass, a burly, bearded fighter with the Free Men of Syria brigade. ?We were given five. We fired four, and took out four regime tanks, and one was a dud.?

Mr Assad?s regime has hundreds of T72s in northern Syria. The future of this war may depend on how many more portable missile systems the rebels are given. In the past two weeks the tanks have made a number of sallies, testing rebel lines, but have been driven back, rebels say.

After the fall of Qusayr on June 5, the regime promised an all-out attack on Aleppo, but it has not yet materialised.

Ahmed Hafash, the leader of Free Men of Syria, the non-Islamist brigade leading the defence of Kafra Hamra, said he expected the assault to drive north away from the city.

Five kilometres north-east lie two loyalist Shia towns, Nobbul and Zahra, where a regime general has raised a local militia several thousand-strong and flown in reinforcements from the Lebanese militia Hezbollah.

Walky-talky intercepts suggest the regime hopes to link up with these towns and press on to relieve the Minegh air base, under rebel siege for 10 months, and then head to the Turkish border nearby. Having cut the north in two, the regime could squeeze out the rebels in their rural strongholds and surround Aleppo.

On the hill opposite the rebels sits the regime?s forward advance post, an unfinished apartment block ? ?full of Iranians?, said a rebel sub-commander, Abu Staif Aloush.

His unit guards the presumed path of the regime?s attack, occupying a development of half-built villas, full of Kalashnikovs and shell-holes.

The regime has 20,000 men based around the Air Force Intelligence barracks behind the front, the rebels say, but has spared 2,500 for this front. The rebels have possibly a similar number, but whether the tanks rolling over the hills can punch through them depends on their defences.

We need an air-fly zone, and anti-tank missiles, or if not a no-fly zone, anti-aircraft missiles too

Mr Da?ass, the fighter, claimed that even without fresh supplies, the rebels would still be victorious. ?If we have no weapons, we will hit them with our slippers,? he said.

But Mr Aloush said: ?We need an air-fly zone, and anti-tank missiles, or if not a no-fly zone, anti-aircraft missiles too.?

The last major weapons shipment comprised rockets and other arms from the former Yugoslavia, paid for by Qatar. However, some were seen in the hands of the Al-Qaeda affiliate, Jabhat al-Nusra, and the supply dried up, apparently under American instruction, six months ago.

Mr Aloush pledged the same would not happen again. ?Every missile will be recorded, where we shot and under whose supervision,? he said.

Whether that will be true for other brigades supplied by the Saudis is another matter, of course. The Saudis are now the favoured conduit, and the rebels? new best friends.
